Charleston, SC Hotel Selections Where Your Money Goes Further There is a broad spectrum of three, four and five-diamond rated hotels in the Charleston area. A hotel rated at the three-diamond level offers well maintained, conveniently located, attractive and comfortable accommodations that are most often inclusive of many amenities. Many times, the difference between a three and a four-diamond rated hotel is minor, for example, provision of a single service or variation in location or room size may be all that establishes the higher rating. So it pays to understand that it is possible to stay at a three-diamond hotel and receive rooms and services very comparable to the four-diamond at a better price value and likewise, for the variables between a four and five-diamond hotel. The difference in the accommodations may be a trifling feature but perhaps not so insignificant with respect to what you might save per night, in room fees.
The Hotels listed below are comparable in their diamond status but have variables in what they offer in terms of amenities and conveniences. If you take into consideration high and low season for reservations, generally March 15 through June 15 and again from Labor Day through October is high season or in demand and rates elevate during this time. If you are able to plan a mid-summer get away in July or August or even better, a mid-winter trip during November through early March, the savings can be substantial. Of course there are exceptions during low season for big events like the South Eastern Wildlife Exhibition or during Christmas, New Years Eve and Valentines weekend, which are big in the hospitality industry so do call ahead for low season rates but overall, hotel savings are big by booking during in low season.
If you must travel during holiday or high season, you can still save if you have flexibility for weekday travel as opposed to weekend reservations as rates are typically lower from Sunday night to Thursday night and jump as demand does on the weekend. Further, determine what is most important for your own comfort, you may be able to procure a 3 or 4-diamond hotel for an extremely reasonable price if you don't mind leaving the hotel for a restaurant, don't necessarily have to be right in the heart of town or can get by without room service.
These minor differences in reservation times and hotel choices can translate into great savings and whether yours is ultimately a good vacation or a great one.
