The best thing about The Barksdale House Inn is the value. They have 8 rooms available during high season starting at $149 per night, seven days/week, so if you're looking for an inexpensive weekend getaway while the weather in Charleston is at its best, this is a great choice.
They offer a full breakfast downstairs each morning in the piazza and for those who want to stay in bed, they will serve coffee, juice and a pastry to your room. Enjoy afternoon wine and cheese in the piazza and meet some of the other guests. Parking is included in the rate which is an added bonus. It's also very convenient, so you don't have to deal with either valet parking or dark, cramped garages.
They have very nice Egyptian cotton linens on the beds and some of the rooms have fireplaces and jetted tubs.
The location is very good, just a few minutes walk to the City Market and just steps to King Street Shopping and dining.
The rooms are fairly nice, but lack the finishing touches of some of Charleston's finer properties such as John
Rutledge House or the Planters Inn. Then again, they're not $250/night either.
