King George IV Whether you're a veteran
of bed and breakfasts, or if you're a
first-timer and are a little nervous about
the idea, King George IV in Charleston, SC is
an excellent choice. One of the most
difficult questions in finding a bed and
breakfast room online is, "How nice is it,
really?", especially when the rooms are under
$200/night on the weekends. At King George IV
Bed and Breakfast, you won't find marble
bathrooms, but you will find a room that has
been thoroughly restored with modern
conveniences (including private baths),
tastefully decorated with antiques and period
reproductions, and maintained with care. The
rooms have interesting, original, and
carefully restored woodwork as well as high
ceilings. The environment in the stair and
hall ways is as inviting as the rooms.
Outdoors, the property is lovely as well with
a warm shaded courtyard and brick
pathways.
Another bonus is parking.
For one thing it's free, but more
importantly, it's convenient. If you haven't
had to walk from your room, down the hallway,
wait for the elevator, walk through the lobby
and off the property, and then up the dark
and sometimes smelly stairways to the third
deck of the parking garage, you might not
appreciate how pleasant it is to walk right
out to your car just a few feet from your
door for the bottle of Advil, or your wallet
or whatever it was that you left in your
car.
The George Street location
is ideal, regardless of what it is you want
to be close to, and it's quiet. The
continental breakfast items are very good,
with pastries and such fresh that morning
from a bakery that is a block away as well as
fruits, breads and cereals. The staff is
knowledgeable of the area and can help you
decide on dinner, attractions and things to
do.
Once again, if you haven't
tried a bed and breakfast before and you're
concerned about privacy, noise, or lack of
convenience or comfort, I'd like to assure
you to take a small chance and try something
different than the usual hotel room. Live a
little and give The King George IV bed and
breakfast in Charleston South Carolina a
shot.
