Charleston Harbor Resort Review

The Charleston Harbor Resort From the moment one step through the doors at The Charleston Harbor Resort and looks to the compass rose designed in tile inlay in the foyer floor, the seafaring motif is revealed. Tastefully understated, from the artwork to the naming of the in-house restaurants, The Reel and Indigo, the decor of the resort underscores a most pleasurable feature in its waterfront situation. Located right on Charleston Harbor, the views from the hotel are magnificent through floor to ceiling windows and the design of the floor plan aims to allow all patrons, whether in a meeting room, one of the restaurants, a guestroom or by the pool, to enjoy the sun-crisped, salty air and gray-blue tones of the tides.

It would seem that the cozy guestrooms are designed and outfitted for romance, with supplied plush robes, jetted tubs, the ocean views, some with balconies and others still with a working fireplace, and no doubt, this is a place where romance is kindled or rekindled but its appeal extends beyond the romantic interlude to a fun family affair as well. Offering children's day recreation from Memorial Day to Labor Day, The Charleston Harbor Resort is prepared for the recreational needs of every member of the family. Every member of the children's recreational staff holds a degree in an educational area that emphasizes understanding the particular needs of working with children, for example Early Childhood Development or Parks and Recreation. In addition, each staff member holds certification in CPR and First Aid training as well as having undergone a full background check. Parents fill out a participation sheet to insure staff's familiarity with each child's individual history so he or she can fully enjoy becoming a Mini Mariner where they'll participate in educational excursions, hunt seashells and tidal pool sea life, learn new activities, as well as play games and sports.

All the recreational activities are not reserved for the kids though. The resort offers facilities for golfers who want to relax and play nine or eighteen holes. A mariner's walk leading out to the pier can inspire the artist with its quiet meditative beauty or a walk out to the dolphin watch allows for a rare communion with our closest ocean companions. Access to a fully equipped and operational marina is available for fisher-folk or boat rental. April marks the return of evening time live entertainment when music and light food fair are provided for scheduled beach parties: Rockin' on the Point. These Friday night parties are complimentary for guest but open to the public as well, for a cover charge. A large and beautifully maintained outdoor pool and oversized hot tub is also an option where poolside cocktails, intimate rattan booths and music offer a soothing way to pass an afternoon.

For the adventurers, a path that ambles along the waterfront that is just perfect for shell collecting or a romantic stroll. The private, white sands beach is an oasis from the hubbub of meetings or sightseeing, where a tiki bar is situated to tend to those exotic tropical cocktails. Though one will find much to do at The Charleston Harbor Resort, Charleston and all her exciting history and sites is just across the harbor. Tickets for a ferry ride can be purchased for a small fee or a complimentary shuttle leaves from the resort for transport to Charleston several times a day. A full Charleston City restaurant and menu catalog is on display in the resort lobby to aid in advance reservations for dining and planning your excursion into town.

If you're so fortunate to attend a business meeting, symposium, wedding or party held at the resort, the professional facilities are outstanding. There are fully equipped conference and function space a plenty at the resort for which top drawer, in-house catering is provided. The Atlantic ballroom space can accommodate up to 125 people or can be divided into three spaces for smaller events or for use as breakout rooms. With the ocean-scape background, new landscaping and the addition of the elegant outside pavilion, the resort can accommodate events for up to 1000 guest and there is no setting lovelier for a wedding or event.
