Harbourview Inn Review

The Harbourview Inn is aptly named, as it is the closest accommodations of its kind to Waterfront Park on the Charleston Harbor. Depending on the particular room, this restored warehouse building, converted to luxury style inn, proffers views of the enormous, artistically designed water fountain which adorns the park as well as varying views of the harbor and its stone jetty, distant sail boats and the very specially scheduled sunrises over the water that, it would seem, the Harbourview management planned specifically for its guests.

With 52 guest rooms, the Harbourview is sizeable enough to be a fully operational service industry hotel while maintaining its intimate and quaint, old-world feel. Offering all the indulgences one would expect from a luxury establishment: soft cotton robes, working fireplaces, opulent and tastefully furnished rooms, luxury bath accoutrement, valet service, round the clock Concierge, etc., The Harbourview offers some extras even beyond one's expectations that have likely earned the inn high awards for the past nine years.

Recognizing the importance of guest comfort, standard in all of the rooms' four-post beds are Tempur-pedic mattresses that are routinely triple sheeted so all one has to do is close his or her eyes and sink into cocooned slumber. An example of the attention to detail in maintaining the old world charm while offering every modern convenience are the handcrafted armoires built to suit the updated flat screen televisions. European style tiles in the bath, French doors to the balconies views and original, skillfully crafted pieces of art hang in each room quietly stating that here-in lies only the best.

Rooms and amenities range from the Historic Rooms, where 18th century original brick is exposed and creatively incorporated into the decor of the room, to the Traditional Room where one can benefit from all the amenities at the Harbourview Inn with the exception of the view for a more modest cost. Of course more lavish rooms are available: The Harbourview, Carver Room offers spacious L-shaped accommodations with a magnificent king bed and the Penthouse offers Jacuzzi jets, a marble fireplace, King bed and French doors to the terrace. The Wedding Suite offers all the extravagance the name implies to create the perfect lodging complete with indulgences for the most special day in a couple's lives.
